Main activity directions:

Study of structural and functional changes in the genomes of prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms

Main scientific achievements:

The xl.DNA genome library of the Cicer arietinum plant was created and the psbA gene was localized.

Intermediate plasmids pAZ1n2 and pAZ2n2 were prepared on the basis of pBR322 plasmid. The Km-resistance gene was under the control of promoter and terminator regulatory elements of pTIAch5 plasmid transcription based on 5T-DNA of the neo gene. The Km-resistance gene was transferred to Zakatala-4 variety of the tobacco plant and the Km-resistant transgenic plant was obtained.

The effect of high concentration of NaCl on the protein content of D. salina cells and the activity of some enzymes was studied. For the first time, D. salina cells were found to have a soluble and membrane-bound form of the enzyme carbonic anhydrase.

Specific CAPS (cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence) markers were developed for the Eb, Ee, R genomes of wild tribes of the Triticeae family and were used in the identification of these genomes.

Based on the result of the screening of salt resistance potential of durum and bread wheat genotypes and lines collected in Genbank using molecular markers, the use of Barakatli 95, Garabagh, Shiraslan 23, Girmizi bughda and Sharg genotypes in the selection process was recommended.
