On February 1, the first scientific seminar of 2021 was held in the online format. At the seminar junior researcher of Bioadaptation laboratory, Aysel Madadli made a speech on “Phytoplasmas that cause diseases in vegetable plants”. The rapporteur noted that the phytoplasma spreads along with the European and Mediterranean basins in Azerbaijan, especially in the Absheron Peninsula, Guba, and Sheki. She informed about the methods of detection of phytoplasma infecting vegetable crops in those regions and ways to combat phytoplasma. The young researcher also provided information on the genetic characteristics of phytoplasmas, detected phytoplasma genes, diagnostic methods, symptomatic elements of phytoplasmas, and the insects that spread them. In the end, a wide discussion was held on the topic.
