On March 27 an online meeting of the Scientific Council of IMBB was held. Opening the meeting chairman of the Scientific Council, director of the institute academician Irada Huseynova congratulated the members on Science day.  The academician noted that on April 9, 2018, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of "Science Day" in the Republic of Azerbaijan, taking into account the importance of science in the development of society, and since then Science Day is celebrated in Azerbaijan. This date is of special importance because it coincides with a significant time for the country - the day of the establishment of ANAS.

Academician Irada Huseynova emphasized that scientists of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies not only make special contributions to Azerbaijani science, but also take an active part in the development of various spheres of life, formation, and strengthening of public opinion, and building a modern Azerbaijani state, they were among the 91 well-known intellectuals declared as the "golden fund" of the New Azerbaijan Party who signed the appeal for the return of our national leader Heydar Aliyev to power. At the meeting correspondent members of ANAS Ibrahim Azizov, Ilham Shahmuradov, Tarlan Mammadov, doctor of biological sciences Sayyara Ibadova, and Ph.D. Ismayil Zulfugarov spoke about the tasks and problems facing Azerbaijani science. Academician Irada Huseynova acquainted the council members with the issues on the agenda of the meeting and noted that a series of events will be held on the occasion of Science Day. Then a number of issues such as a partial change in the composition of the Scientific Council of the Institute, as well as the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, supporting the candidacy of Ruslan Andreyevich Yakimchuk, Senior research fellow of the Department of Plant Genetic Improvement of the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, for the Corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, majoring in “Plant Genetics” were discussed. Relevant decisions were made on the issues discussed.
