The employees of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, doctors of philosophy in biology Nargiz Sultanova, Samra Mirzayeva, junior researcher Nargiz Bayramova, 1^st-year master student Aytaj Guliyeva were on a scientific trip in Yenikend, Seyidli, Marishli villages of Salyan region on 31.05.2021-02.06.2021. Then, Samra Mirzayeva and Nargiz Bayramova participated in the expeditions in Absheron region, Ministry of Agriculture of the Repuclic of Azerbaijan Vegetable Research Institute and Viticulture and Enology Research Institute on June 9, Goytapa settlement, New Alvadi village, as well Masalli Goyachol, Onjagala, Arkivan villages on June 16-19, and Madrasa settlement, Meysari, Malham, Goyler villages in Shamaxi region; Tezekend, Talistan, and Ivanovka villages in Ismayilli region.

The purpose of the expeditions was to reveal viruses that cause Grapevine Leafroll Disease in grapes, general viruses in tomatoes, and Potyviruses in other vegetables and melon plants. Samples were taken from the shredding of leaf axils in tomato plant, necrosis and yellow spots, as well as leaves covered with white-winged butterflies that play a major role in the transmission of viruses. Yellow mosaic, necrosis spots, leaf rot were observed in melon plants. During viral infections in grapes, colorful mosaics on the leaves, shrinking of the leaf axils, shortening of the trunk were observed. During the expeditions, samples were collected from the leaves of vegetables and melons such as tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, watermelons, as well as the leaves of grapes with symptomatic symptoms during the pathogenesis of the virus.
