Azerbaijan National Bioethics Committee was represented at the 14th meeting of the Bioethics Committee of the Council of Europe. Senior researcher of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of ANAS, scientific secretary of the Azerbaijan National Bioethics Committee, PhD Gulnara Balakishiyeva participated in the  Bioethics Committee of the Council of Europe's 14th meeting held in Strasbourg, France, on 20-22 November. Representatives from 47 countries included in the Council of Europe, as well as representatives of the European Committee on Organ Transplantation, the European Committee on  Blood Transfusion, the Committee on the Rights of the Child, and the Coordinating Committee on Human Rights participated in the meeting. The meeting began with the exchange of information on innovations in the countries in the field of Bioethics. Public debates on Biomedical and Health prepared by Committee were presented and their main goals were discussed widely at the meeting. Another issue on the agenda of the meeting was the discussion of the Strategic Action Plan of the DH-BIO Committee for 2020-2025. The work methods and future activities of the committee were proposed by participants and they exchanged views on this issue. The opinions of other relevant committees of the Council of Europe on the project of Additional Protocol on the Protection of people with mental disorders, their mandatory hospitalization and compulsory treatment were discussed and it was decided to continue the work on the proposed changes and improvement of the project. The meeting also touched upon the protection of children's rights and emphasized the importance of protecting the interests of children in new family forms and bioethics aspects. At the end of the meeting, the election of president, vice-president and bureau members of DH-BIO Committee was held.
