In 2022, the first meeting of the Academic Council of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences (DBMS) of ANAS was held. The meeting was attended by the Director General and the Executive Director of the institutes, which are part of the Division. Opening the event, Vice President of ANAS, Chairman of the Academic Council of the Division, academician Irada Huseynova introduced the participants with current issues, as well as informed that at the meeting of the Presidium of ANAS, held on January 19, 2022, the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences in 2021 were discussed and positively assessed.

 She entrusted the institutions with the tasks given in the relevant decision of the Presidium of ANAS on the restoration of science in the liberated territories, the study of the biological diversity of Karabakh, the current biological and environmental situation, the prospects for further development, the preparation of the "Red Book" of Azerbaijan, the problems of the Caspian Sea, the study of infectious diseases, including COVID-19, strengthening scientific research and training highly qualified personnel in the most modern areas of biological science, developing international relations and electronic science, etc. She spoke about the comprehensive plans for scientific research of the DBMS institutes for 2022, international and national scientific events planned for the year, and emphasized the need to make more efforts to implement all the tasks and plans.

Academician Irada Huseynova informed the participants about the personnel scientific potential of the Institutes of the Division, the distribution of employees by age groups, spoke about the shortcomings, gave recommendations and instructions.

 Then issues of common interest related to the certification of enterprises of the Division were discussed, proposals were voiced.

 The meeting also considered a number of other topical issues related to the activities of the Division.
