On September 06-08, 2023, an experimental-training course on "Human genetic identification and passporting" was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The experimental-training course was organized by the Azerbaijan Science and Innovation Volunteers organization. Students of Baku State University and Sumgait State University participated in the training course. Two lectures were given to the students on "Personality identification: history, importance and application aspects" and "Population and genome studies: features, advantages, problems". Lectures were given by Associate Professor Nurmammad Mustafayev, head of the Institute's Population Genomics Laboratory. Lala Akhundova, a junior researcher of that laboratory, conducted an experimental course on spectrophotometric determination of DNA density, preparation for PCR, implementation of PCR, electrophoresis of PCR products and documentation of results. At the end of the experimental-training course, students participated in the experience of identity identification and determination of disputed paternity/maternity in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory of the Biology Department of the "Forensic Medical Expertise and Pathological Anatomy Union Public Legal Entity" of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the experimental course, the students got acquainted with working with Real-Time PCR, conventional PCR,  capillary electrophoresis devices and programs for analyzing the obtained results.
