A large event was held on the occasion of September 27 - Memorial Day at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies. First, the participants of the event commemorated the dear memory of the martyrs of the I and II Karabakh Wars and the sons of the country who died during the recent anti-terrorist operations with a minute of silence. Academician Irada Huseynova, the Director General of the institute, who opened the meeting with an opening speech, said that as a sign of deep respect for our soldiers and officers who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, all our martyrs, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed the Decree dated December 2, 2020, on celebrating the 27th of September as Memorial Day. Academician Irada Huseynova noted that the foundation of the Azerbaijani army was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev, and it was developed by President Ilham Aliyev and turned into a powerful army equipped with the most modern weapons in the world. During the 44-day Patriotic War, despite all political pressures and threats, İlham Aliyev resolutely defended the national interests of the Azerbaijani people, pursued a purposeful and consistent policy, and as a result of all this, a historic victory was gained. Because of the brilliant victory achieved by Azerbaijan on the battlefield, our three regions - Aghdam, Kalbajar and Lachin - were returned to Azerbaijan without a single shot being fired or a martyr. We are proud of our martyrs who lost their lives for the freedom of our land, veterans who lost their health, parents of martyrs and veterans who raised such heroes for the Motherland. We are proud of our Commander-in-Chief and our Victorious Army, who ended thirty years of occupation and restored our territorial integrity. Today and from now on, as our President mentioned, the people of Azerbaijan will live forever as a victorious nation.

Speaking at the event, veteran Jeyhun Abdullayev, a participant in the 2nd Karabakh War, said that our people are always ready to die for the sake of the Motherland, united under the flag of Azerbaijan. Correspondent members of ANAS, Ibrahim Azizov, Novruz Guliyev, and Nurmammad Mustafayev, a veteran of the First Karabakh War, noted that the political will of our Commander-in-Chief, the bravery of our army, the lives and blood of our soldiers and officers restored the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and justice found its place. Later, Alamdar Mammadov, Fazail Mammadov and Ganfila Bayramova, who lost their loved ones during the First Karabakh War, shared their memories of those bloody days and noted that we are always indebted to the martyrs and veterans for the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

At the end of the event, a video dedicated to September 27-Memorial Day was demonstrated.
