Gulnar Abdullayeva, a 2018 graduate of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of MSE RA majoring in "Molecular Biology", junior researcher, completed her doctoral studies in Oncology at Oxford University. Gulnar Abdullayeva successfully defended her dissertation at the commission organized at Oxford University on May 8.
It should be mentioned that Gulnar Abdullayeva studied in the PhD program at Oxford University in 2019-2023, conducting research in the laboratory of famous scientist Professor Walter Bodmer at the university's Oncology Department. She studied the mechanisms of cell differentiation in colorectal cancer (CRC). The main goal of G.Abdullayeva's research was to identify new potential factors that cause cell differentiation. A new treatment method was discovered by determining which primary defects (mutations or methylation) drive cell differentiation in CRC. The young scientist's research will contribute to the treatment of specific forms of cancer. At the same time, it is a matter of pride that Gulnar Abdullayeva was awarded the 2024 Presidential Award for Young People in Science.
