World-renowned scientist, Nobel Prize laureate, honorary member of ANAS, professor of the faculty of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the University of North Carolina, USA, Aziz Sanjar visited the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies (IMBB) of the Ministry of Science and Education.
President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli, director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education under the Ministry of Science and Education Ulkar Sattarova, vice president of ANAS, director general of IMBB, academician Irada Huseynova, head of the department of Foreign relations and work with international scientific organizations, associate professor Esmira Alirzayeva, Head of the Department of Public Relations, Press and Information of the Presidium, doctor of philology Aghahuseyn Shukurov, as well as employees of IMBB participated in the meeting.
First, the Nobel prize laureate Aziz Sanjar got acquainted with the scientific work carried out in the laboratories of Genome Structure and Expression, Cell Membrane Systems, Bioadaptation and Population Genomics equipped with modern equipment, as well as academician Jalal Aliyev's library and study room.
Academician Irada Huseynova informed the guest about the establishment and development history of the institute, its structure, the research works carried out here, the successes achieved, the prepared personnel potential, the international relations of the institute and its participation in grant projects. He said that the creation and fundamental development of new directions of biological science in Azerbaijan is connected with academician Jalal Aliyev.
Aziz Sanjar spoke about his research in DNA repair, which led to his Nobel prize, and the fundamentals of biological clock regulation. Aziz Sanjar shared his experiences with the scientists of IMBB in the direction of obtaining the Nobel Prize.
The Nobel laureate presented his book "Life and Knowledge" to IMBB.
