On May 31, at the ED 1.25 Dissertation Council operating under the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, the defense of the dissertation submitted by Elshan Mammadov to receive the PhD degree in biology on the topic " Study of polymorphism in the population of Azerbaijan with Str markers " was held. The dissertation work was performed in the Population Genomics Laboratory of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory of the Department of Forensic Biology of the Public Legal Entity "Union of Forensic-Medical Expertise and Pathological Anatomy" of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The supervisors of the work are doctor of medical sciences Adalat Hasanov, and PhD, associate professor Nurmammad Mustafayev. The scientific secretary of the Dissertation Council, doctor of philosophy in biology, Samra Mirzayeva, introduced the council members to the information contained in the applicant's personal file, and then the floor was given to the applicant. The applicant gave detailed information about the relevance of the work, the goal of the dissertation, the scientific novelty of the work, and the results obtained. As a result of the conducted research, it was determined that population-genetic and forensic parameters, especially the allele frequencies of STR loci, can be used as real reference parameters with sufficient reliability in the practice of forensic medicine. Citations and use of research results indicate that these results are of fundamental and practical importance. The official opponents- PhD in physics-mathematics, professor Rovshan Khalilov, doctor of biological sciences Elkhan Rasulov and PhD in medicine, Professor Mehmet Tokdemir pointed out that the research work is complete and has scientific innovation, and they said that the dissertation fully meets the requirements set for doctoral dissertations of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the applicant deserves to receive the doctoral degree in biology in the speciality "Molecular Biology".
Ilham Shahmuradov, corresponding member of ANAS, doctors of biological sciences Saftar Suleymanov, Vilayat Abdiyev, Ziyaddin Mammadov and associate professor Alamdar Mammadov, who participated in the discussions, highly appreciated the dissertation work and highly appreciated dissertation work and said that it was a research work that met the requirements of the modern era, was relevant, had scientific innovation and was of scientific and practical importance. Later, extensive discussions were held around the dissertation. The applicant addressed the council members' queries and explained his viewpoint about the recommendations and remarks of the opponents. After listening to the applicant's final words, a vote was held. According to the results of the voting, a decision was made to submit a petition to the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for awarding Elshan Mammadov with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Biology.
