Senior Researcher of the Laboratory of Photosynthetic Oxidation of Water of the Institute of Fundamental Problems of Biology of RAS, Head of the Controlled Photobiosynthesis Laboratory of the Institute of Plant Physiology of RAS, Professor of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, doctor of biological sciences, corresponding member of RAS, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Suleyman Allahverdiyev, ranked first among Russian scientists and 379th worldwide in the field of "Plant Science and Agronomy". More than 20,000 references were made to the works of Suleyman Allahverdiyev during the last year.
It should be noted that in 2023 Suleyman Allahverdiyev ranked first among Russian scientists, and in 2022 he ranked fourth in the field of "Biology and Biochemistry".
The professor made an important contribution to studying the fundamental processes of photosynthesis and the photocatalytic conversion mechanisms of solar energy in plants. In addition, the scientist is one of the main scientists who discovered and proved the participation of the pheophytin molecule in the transfer of electrons in the reaction center of photosystem II, and also determined that there are four manganese atoms in the donor part of photosystem II. Suleyman Allahverdiyev's research interests have recently centered on the study of artificial photosynthesis and hydrogen energy.
