Executive director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, Associate Professor Alamdar Mammadov and Head of the Laboratory of Photochemistry of Chloroplasts, corresponding member of ANAS Ibrahim Azizov participated in the scientific-practical conference on  "Ensuring sustainable agricultural production through mitigation and adaptation of the effects of global climate changes" in Guba. The conference, attended by scientists and specialists from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Croatia, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, lasted two days. The event was jointly organized by the Scientific-Research Institute of Fruit and Tea Cultivation of the Ministry of Agriculture and the "Scientific-Research Institute of Vegetables" public legal entity.

The main goal of the conference was to bring together interested parties and exchange knowledge and experiences in the direction of reducing the negative effects of climate change on the fruit and vegetable growing areas of agriculture and exploring ways to adapt to the current situation. Furthermore, the conference prioritized the establishment of cooperative relations between the organizer institutes and relevant agricultural enterprises from various countries, the strengthening of existing relations, and the discussion of joint scientific research projects.

At the conference, A. Mammadov informed about signing a memorandum between the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies and the Scientific Research Institute of Fruit and Tea Cultivation and conducting joint scientific research within the framework of the memorandum, screening of samples collected in GenBank using morphophysiological, biochemical, molecular biological, molecular genetic methods to create plant varieties resistant to the effects of abiotic and biotic factors related to global climate change, and the use of resistant forms as parent forms in breeding programs.
