On February 11, an event dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Academician Irada Huseynova opened the event with a welcoming speech, discussing the history of establishing the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and congratulated the participants on this significant day. She noted that the United Nations General Assembly, through a resolution adopted in 2015, declared February 11 as the "International Day of Women and Girls in Science" in honor of the birth anniversary of the distinguished scientist Marie Curie, who was awarded the Nobel Prize twice. Academician Irada Huseynova noted that the strengthening of gender policy, the enhancement of women's role in society, and the significant measures taken in this direction in our country are associated with the name of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. She stated that the support and initiatives of President Ilham Aliyev have created real opportunities for women to actively participate, highlighting the significant role of women in the development of independent Azerbaijan.
After that, a video dedicated to world-renowned female scientists, including prominent female scientists of Azerbaijan, was presented.
At the event, the head of the International Proteomics Laboratory, PhD in Biology Aynura Pashayeva, delivered a speech on the topic "Regulation of dynamic changes in the photosynthetic apparatus under changing light conditions. The young scientist's presentation was met with great interest, and extensive discussions were held on the topic.
