On March 19, Dr. Zakaria Kehel, the Leader of ICARDA's Research Group on Genetic Resources, Conservation and Use visited the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies (IMBB) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Dr. Zakaria Kehel met with the Director General of IMBB, Academician Irada Huseynova. During the meeting, Irada Huseynova provided the guest with information about the history, research directions, and ongoing scientific studies at the institute. In turn, Dr. Kehel spoke about their work on the selection of gene pool specimens and the targeted identification of germplasm. The scientists also discussed prospects for future collaboration between IMBB and ICARDA. Dr. Zakaria Kehel familiarized himself with the material and technical resources of the institute’s laboratories and the ongoing research activities. Later, he delivered a scientific seminar on the topic "Genomics for PGR: Opportunities and Challenges." His presentation was met with great interest by the seminar participants.
