At the general assembly of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the staff was informed about the matters arising from the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated April 4, 2025, titled “On Additional Measures to Optimize and Enhance the Efficiency of Scientific Institutions under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.” Relevant instructions were given for the implementation of the required tasks. The Chair of the Assembly, Director General of the Institute, Academician Irada Huseynova, spoke about the content of the decree and emphasized the importance of its execution. She noted that, in accordance with the decree, eight specialized institutes will be established through the merger of institutions working in related and complementary fields—such as Geology, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Life Systems, and Molecular Biology. In addition, two new scientific institutions will be formed that meet modern scientific infrastructure requirements and international standards. It was emphasized at the meeting that the primary goal of the upcoming changes is to enhance the efficiency of scientific institutions, ensure the rational use of the state budget, simplify management, and provide a more comprehensive evaluation of scientists' work. Academician Irada Huseynova expressed confidence that the implementation of the decree would give a strong impetus to the intensive development of all branches of science in the country in the relevant fields.
