On April 28, an event on "Address of Spiritual Maturity and Kindness" dedicated to the 102nd birth anniversary of outstanding ophthalmologist, scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva and “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty” was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of MSE RA. Opening the event with an introductory speech, the General Director of the IMBB, academician Irada Huseynova, spoke about the rich scientific legacy and various periods of activity of the prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, who made invaluable contributions to the development of medical science in Azerbaijan. The speaker noted that academician Zarifa Aliyeva dedicated her life to bringing light to people and left an indelible mark in memories with her scientific and human qualities. The research and selfless activity of the prominent scientist have made valuable contributions not only to the science of ophthalmology, but also to the healthcare of Azerbaijan as a whole. Today, Zarifa Aliyeva’s name is remembered with great respect as a symbol of compassion, spiritual maturity, and devotion to science and humanity. Her rich legacy and life devoted to bringing light to others continue to serve as an example for future generations. The cherished memory of the eminent scientist is always honored with deep reverence. In Azerbaijan, several institutions bear her name. The Zarifa Aliyeva National Ophthalmology Center, located in Baku, stands as a profound expression of respect for her life and work. This center not only provides high-level medical services but also conducts scientific research.
“Zarifa Aliyeva, who was awarded numerous honors and titles, earned the boundless love of the people through her deeds," stated academician Irada Huseynova. She also highlighted that the book "Current Issues in Ophthalmology," co-authored by the eminent scientist, was published in English by Elm Publishing House within the framework of the 80th anniversary of ANAS. She noted that the publication of the book, dedicated to current issues in ophthalmology, in English holds great significance in terms of promoting and introducing the personality and work of the ophthalmologist scientist to the international community.
At the event, corresponding member of ANAS Novruz Guliyev, Doctor of Medical Sciences and employee of the Zarifa Aliyeva National Ophthalmology Center Nazila Rustamova, Director of the Zarifa Aliyeva Lyceum Fargana Isayeva, and young IMBB researcher Aygun Sadigova from the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory also delivered speeches. They emphasized that academician Zarifa Aliyeva, as one of the distinguished figures in the history of Azerbaijani science and healthcare, earned the love of everyone who knew her and will forever live in the hearts of our people.
