On June 20, within the framework of the project “Hydrogen production from Caspian Sea algae through biotechnological methods,” employees of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan participated in a scientific expedition to the coastal areas of the Absheron Peninsula of the Caspian Sea. During the expedition, PhD in Biology Nahida Aliyeva, researcher Konul Jumshudlu, and PhD student Ruslan Suleymanov collected algae samples, which were brought to the laboratory for further research. The collected samples are intended for biochemical, physiological, and biophysical analyses. In addition, environmental parameters such as temperature, wind speed, and solar radiation were also measured. The main goal of the expeditions organized within the mentioned project is to explore the potential of the algal bioresources of the Caspian Sea as an alternative energy source.
