An unusual natural phenomenon has been observed in the garden cultivated in the yard of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. A cherry tree in the institute’s yard bloomed again in August, attracting the attention of scientists and staff. Traditionally, this fruit tree blossoms in spring, so its blooming for the second time toward the end of the summer season is considered a rare and unusual occurrence for the Baku–Absheron Peninsula.
Institute staff note that in recent years, weather fluctuations and temperature differences exceeding normal ranges have affected the biological cycles of many plant species. Scientists are continuing their observations in order to conduct a more comprehensive analysis of such cases and investigate their causes.
