On September 10, a master class took place at the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor Reyhan Aghayeva, Deputy Dean Associate Professor Besti Asadova, Heads of Departments Professor Ali Zalov and Associate Professor Kamala Isgandarova, as well as the faculty staff and students. Deputy Dean Associate Professor B. Asadova emphasized the relevance of the seminar topic, speaking about the effects of salinity stress on plant growth and productivity, as well as the risks posed by soil salinization to global food security. Head of the Laboratory of Photochemistry of Chloroplasts at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Ibrahim Azizov delivered a lecture on “The harmful effects of salinity on the development of agricultural plants and modern biotechnological and genomic strategies for improving tolerance.” Following the presentation, Professor Azizov answered participants’ questions and held discussions on topical issues. The information and scientific results presented by Professor Azizov were received with great interest by the faculty members and students, who noted that such seminars make a valuable contribution to the scientific and educational activities of the faculty.
