The event, jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, featured sessions moderated by Professor Tahir Tahirov of the University of Nebraska (USA) and Professor Rashad Karimov of Auburn University (USA). During the plenary session, Professor Jamal Musayev, Director of the Emerson Center for Scientific Computation at Emory University (USA), presented a lecture titled “On the roles of microenvironment and non-covalent interactions in the catalysis: solar energy to chemical energy conversion.” Professor Ali Naz from Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences (Germany) delivered a talk on “Green-revolution versus genome-revolution: solutions for a cultivated planet.” Dr. Yunus Emre Turkmen, Associate Professor at Bilkent University (Türkiye), presented “Design principles for constructing four, five, and six-membered rings: cyclobutanes, lactams, and fluoranthenes.” Professor Aamir Ahmad from the Translational Research Institute of Qatar spoke about “Epigenetics and precision oncology: success so far.” Professor Tahir Tahirov delivered another presentation on “Structural basis of herpesvirus helicase-primase inhibition by pritelivir and amenamevir.” Professor Aziz Eftekhari from Ege University (Izmir, Türkiye) discussed “Green nanotech: for sustainable future.” Professor Levent Cavaş from Dokuz Eylül University (Izmir, Türkiye) presented “Hydrogen production by using green chemistry methodologies.” Finally, Dr. Yashar Feyziyev, Head of Laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, presented his study “Comparative effects of cadmium, copper, zinc, and lead ions on oxygen evolution in Photosystem II. After each presentation, extensive discussions were held and questions were answered.
