Organized jointly by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Agency for Science and Education, and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, the international conference on "Challenges in Energy, Food, Environment, and Climate Security" continued its work on October 16, 2025, with presentations by invited speakers.
The sessions, moderated by Professor Aziz Eftekharin from Ege University (Turkey) and Dr. Mehraj Abbasov from ADA University (Azerbaijan), featured scientific presentations on the following topics: Professor Pawel Dydio from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, spoke on "Unlocking chemical innovation through mechanistic design and multicatalysis"; Professor Rashad Karimov from Auburn University, USA, presented on "Piperidine synthesis through transition metal-catalyzed heteroarene dearomatization"; Professor Byeong-ha Lee, Head of the Laboratory at Sogang University, Republic of Korea, discussed "Building a better plant: a "back-to-basics" approach to abiotic stress tolerance"; PhD student Maryam Gafarzade from the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies presented on “Polyene macrolide antibiotics: eco-friendly alternatives to chemical fungicides”; PhD student Dilgam Ahmadli from the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research, Germany, spoke on "Standardized approach for diversification of complex small molecules via aryl thianthrenium salts"; Professor Shakhlo Miralamova, Director of the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, presented on "Microbial innovations for food security and sustainable ecosystems"; Laboratory Head Aynura Pashayeva from the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies discussed "Psbs-regulated thylakoid phosphorylation in energy-dependent quenching and stress tolerance in rice plants"; Dr. Ibrahim Kırkız from Dokuz Eylul University, Turkiye, spoke on "Biofouling-based energy problems in maritime transportation and antifouling solutions"; Dr. Tokhir Khusanov from the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan presented on "Bacillus velezensis tm inhibits the growth of phytopathogenic fungi and enhances plant resistance to tobacco mosaic virus"; Dr. Mehraj Abbasov discussed "Genetic diversity of aegilops tauschii coss. revealed by snp markers for sustainable wheat improvement"; Dr. Anastasia Asanova from Ege University presented on "Ecotoxicological assessment of silver nanoparticles using a diverse set of biological models"; and Dr. Tofig Allahverdiyev, Laboratory Head at the Research Institute of Crop Husbandry, spoke on "Study of physiological traits in the selection of wheat genotypes for drought resistance."
All presentations were received with great interest, and detailed discussions were held.
The conference will continue its work with parallel sessions.
