The meeting was opened by ANAS Vice-President and BMSD’s Scientific Council Chair, Academician Irada Huseynova, who noted the significance of the assembly ahead of ANAS’s 80th anniversary and the 5th anniversary of the Great Victory. She highlighted the 2025 “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” and its connection to Azerbaijan’s constitutional history and the restoration of national sovereignty. Huseynova reviewed the historical development of ANAS and Division of Biological and Medical Sciences, emphasizing the contributions of prominent scientists and the creation of strong academic schools. She underscored the role of national leaders, including Heydar and Ilham Aliyev, in advancing Azerbaijan’s scientific and state development. The Vice-President noted BMSD’s achievements in fundamental research, COVID-19 studies, public awareness, and post-war research in liberated territories. She also highlighted the division’s involvement in international events, including COP29 and related publications, including the book “COP29: Global and National Challenges, the Role of Science”. Huseynova emphasized division’s priority in digitalization, artificial intelligence, and innovative research in line with state directives. The assembly recognized notable scientists, celebrating milestones such as 60th, 65th, and 90th birthdays with honors and awards. The meeting concluded with discussions of current issues and the presentation of annual reports from ANAS members and research institutes. Then ANAS Corresponding Member Nuru Bayramov congratulated Academician Irada Huseynova on her 60th birthday on behalf of the division members, wishing her good health and success in her scientific and public activities.
