PhD student Ruslan Suleymanov of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the MSE AR was on a scientific mission at Dokuz Eylül University from September 17 to October 31. During his mission, Ruslan Suleymanov carried out research on the topic “Hydrogen production using nanoparticles synthesized by algae collected from the Caspian Sea.” The purpose of the study was to determine the most favorable conditions for synthesis and to apply the obtained optimal nanoparticles in the hydrogen production process.
In the Biochemistry Laboratory of the university, silver nanoparticles were synthesized using two types of algae collected from the Caspian Sea — Ulva compressa and Gracilaria — and their structural, morphological, and functional characteristics were investigated. In parallel, the catalytic activity of the synthesized nanoparticles in biohydrogen production was tested, and efforts were made to optimize various parameters.
