The masterclasses held by Prof. Dr. Yusuf Özkul, a medical genetics specialist from Erciyes University, Faculty of Medicine, were successfully completed on 18–20 November, organized by the SABAH groups. The sessions were attended by SABAH undergraduate students of Biotechnology and Biology Teaching, master's students specializing in Molecular Biology, as well as SABAH instructors.
Within the program, students were introduced to current areas of modern medical genetics: basic molecular genetic methods, NGS technologies and their applications, tissue culture methods, cytogenetic techniques, prenatal diagnostics, cfDNA and NIPT approaches, and RNA-based gene therapies.
On the final day, a meeting was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies with the scientific supervisors of the master’s students, and participants delivered their scientific presentations. Professor Yusuf Özkul provided valuable recommendations on planning scientific work, methodological approaches, and research strategies. Future prospects for scientific collaboration were also widely discussed.
At the end of the program, the head of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, academician Irada Huseynova, presented a souvenir to Professor Yusuf Özkul. Elza Samedova, head of the SABAH Groups Executive Committee, awarded the professor with a certificate of appreciation.
