On November 28, employees of the Institute of Molecular Biology Public Legal Entity of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, participated in another scientific expedition on the shores of the Absheron Peninsula of the Caspian Sea within the framework of the project "Biotechnological production of hydrogen from Caspian Sea algae". During the expedition, samples of algae were collected by PhD in Biology Nahida Aliyeva, researcher Konul Jumshudlu, and PhD student Ruslan Suleymanov, and brought to the laboratory for further research. Biochemical, physiological, and biophysical analyses are planned to be carried out on the collected samples. In addition, within the framework of the expedition, key environmental parameters — water and air temperature, wind speed, and the intensity of solar radiation were measured. The main purpose of the expeditions organized within the project is to study the potential of the Caspian Sea’s algal bioresources as an alternative energy source, particularly for hydrogen production through biotechnological methods.
