An event titled “Raising awareness on the importance of family and marriage among young people, and on the negative consequences of early marriage and consanguineous marriage for the purpose of protecting the family” was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology Public Legal Entity of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the event was to promote healthy family values among young people and to increase awareness of the medical, psychological, and social consequences caused by early marriages and consanguineous marriages. At the meeting, the institute’s staff members — Doctors of Biological Sciences, Professors Saftar Suleymanov and Tofig Allahverdiyev; PhDs in Biology, Associate Professors Alamdаr Mammadov and Ulduza Gurbanova, as well as Aygun Sadiqova, Chair of the Institute’s Council of Young Scientists and Specialists delivered speeches. In the presentations, the impact of early marriages on young people’s health and social development, the increase in genetic risks, and the potential dangers of consanguineous marriages were explained in detail. The speakers provided recommendations to young people on the role of the family in society and the importance of making healthy, scientifically grounded decisions. The event continued with discussions, and participants’ questions were answered. At the end, a video clip on the negative consequences of early marriage and consanguineous marriage was shown.
