Institute of Molecular Biology Expands International Scientific Cooperation + Photo Jan 13, 2026 | 21:00 / Meetings

On January 13, an online meeting was held via the Zoom platform between the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, presentations were delivered by Samira Rustamova, Leading Researcher of the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, PhD in Biology; Tofiq Allahverdiyev, Head of the Department of Plant Physiology and Biotechnology at the Scientific Research Institute of Crop Husbandry of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan and Principal Researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology, Doctor of Biological Sciences; and from the Uzbek side, Khurshida Ibadullayeva, Head of the Laboratory of Transgenomics and Cell Culture, Doctor of Biological Sciences. In their presentations, the parties shared information about ongoing scientific research, existing scientific potential, and laboratory capabilities in the fields of genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and transgenomics. The participants discussed expanding the exchange of experience between the scientific institutions of the two countries, developing joint scientific projects, and participating together in international grant competitions. At the same time, prospects for cooperation were highlighted in areas such as genetic improvement of agricultural crops, development of varieties resistant to stress factors, use of molecular markers, and application of bioinformatic analyses. At the end of the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of establishing sustainable and systematic scientific cooperation and agreed to prepare a concrete action plan in the near future.
