A memorial ceremony dedicated to the cherished memory of the prominent scientist and public and political figure, Academician Jalal Aliyev, was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology. The memory of the scholar, who devoted his life to the development of Azerbaijani science, the training of national scientific personnel, and the formation of modern directions in biological science, was commemorated by the institute’s staff with deep respect and gratitude. The participants first honored his bright memory with a minute of silence.

Opening the ceremony with introductory remarks, Academician Irada Huseynova spoke in detail about Jalal Aliyev’s life path, as well as his many years of scientific and organizational activity. She particularly emphasized the great scholar’s exceptional role in the development of numerous fields of biological science in the country, the strong scientific school he established, the hundreds of young scientists and specialists he trained, and the rich scientific legacy he passed on to future generations. It was noted that Jalal Aliyev’s name has been inscribed in the history of Azerbaijani science in golden letters, and that his work continues to serve as an example for scientists and young researchers today.

Later, Academician Jalal Aliyev’s students and colleagues, Corresponding Member of ANAS Ibrahim Azizov, Doctor of Biological Sciences Atabay Jahangirov, and PhD in Biology Durna Aliyeva shared their memories of their teacher. They noted that he was not only a great scientist, but also a caring mentor, a wise adviser, and an intellectual distinguished by high moral qualities. His attentiveness to students and followers, scientific integrity, diligence, and sincerity were recalled with special gratitude.

At the end of the event, a documentary film dedicated to the life and work of Academician Jalal Aliyev was screened.
