Members of the Working Group on Environmental Issues meet in Zangilan - infrastructure projects and environmental requirements in focus + Photo

On March 13, a regular meeting of the Working Group on Environmental Issues, operating under the Interagency Center of the Coordination Headquarters established to ensure the centralized resolution of issues in the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, was held in the village of Aghali, Zangilan district. The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant state institutions represented in the Working Group, as well as representatives of the Special Representations of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the districts of Jabrayil, Gubadli, Zangilan, Aghdara, Khojaly, Lachin, Kalbajar, Shusha, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Khojavand, and the city of Khankendi, along with representatives of Restoration, Construction, and Management Services. During the meeting, members of the Working Group and representatives of invited institutions provided information on the implementation status of environmental requirements during the execution of infrastructure projects in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions, the restoration of the activities of specially protected natural areas, newly established national parks, biodiversity of these territories, rare and endangered species of flora and fauna, and other related issues. Representatives of other institutions participating in the meeting also exchanged views on issues related to environmental permits during the implementation of infrastructure projects, as well as on strengthening communication and coordination among relevant bodies, including the execution of instructions given by the Coordination Headquarters.
Vice-President of ANAS, Acting Director General of the Institute of Molecular Biology, Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Academician Irada Huseynova delivered a presentation titled “The Great Return of Science to Karabakh: Biodiversity, Soil and Water Resources, and Ecosystem Research in 2020–2025.
