Academician Irada Huseynova, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Acting Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, delivered an opening speech at the international online scientific conference titled “Innovations in Medical Biotechnology,” organized by the Scientific Research Institute of Medical Prophylaxis named after Vali Akhundov under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The main objective of the conference was to discuss and share the results of scientific research conducted in the field of medical biotechnology, to present modern approaches and innovative technologies, and to expand scientific cooperation among local and international specialists working in this area.
In her speech, Academician Irada Huseynova welcomed the participants and noted that medical biotechnology has become one of the fastest-developing fields of fundamental science and innovation. She emphasized that significant scientific achievements have been attained in recent years as a result of the integration of biology, medicine, and digital technologies.
The speaker highlighted that, in particular, the development of molecular biology and genomic technologies provides broad opportunities for a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms of diseases and for the development of new approaches to their treatment.
Academician Irada Huseynova also pointed out that achieving significant progress in both fundamental science and practical healthcare, including the implementation of new diagnostic and preventive methods, is closely linked to the expansion of multidisciplinary cooperation at both national and international levels.
The conference featured presentations by scientists and specialists representing universities from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Cyprus. Extensive discussions were held on topical issues such as the application of biotechnologies and digital technologies in medicine, modern research methods, new approaches to disease diagnostics, and the prospects of molecular-genetic studies.
