Gunay Ismayilova, a researcher at the Laboratory of Biotechnology and Bioengineering of the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, participated in an international training school entitled “Protoplast Biotechnology,” held on April 22–24, 2026, at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich), located in Zurich, Switzerland. The training was organized within the framework of the COPYTREE (CA21157) grant project of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Association.
Within the training program, theoretical knowledge was acquired on protoplast isolation, cultivation, and regeneration systems, as well as somatic hybridization, CRISPR/genome editing, and bioinformatics analyses. During the practical sessions, biotechnological processes such as protoplast preparation, transformation, and microcallus formation were performed under laboratory conditions. During the program, ideas were exchanged with young researchers from different countries, and new prospects for scientific collaboration were discussed.
