An event dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Opening the event, the Scientific Secretary of the Institute, PhD in Biology, Associate Professor Durna Aliyeva, spoke about the rich scientific legacy of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva and emphasized her exceptional role in the development of medical science in Azerbaijan. She noted that such events are of particular importance in preserving the legacy of outstanding scientists and fostering interest in science among the younger generation.

Subsequently, Corresponding Members of ANAS Novruz Guliyev, Ibrahim Azizov, and Panah Muradov, PhD in Biology Ilham Aliyev, and researcher Fidan Gudratova delivered speeches highlighting the academician’s significant contributions to Azerbaijani science, particularly in the field of ophthalmology. It was noted that Zarifa Aliyeva left a profound mark on Azerbaijani society not only as an outstanding scientist but also as a person of high moral qualities. The speakers emphasized that her scientific legacy remains relevant today and that her works and research continue to play an important role in the development of modern medicine. It was underlined that her scientific activity is particularly remembered for the introduction of new methods in the study and treatment of eye diseases.

At the end of the event, a video dedicated to the life and scientific activity of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva was presented.
