Today marks the 70th anniversary of Sadagat Asadova, PhD in Biology, Associate Professor, Leading Researcher at the Laboratory of Biotechnology and Bioengineering of the Institute of Molecular Biology under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Sadagat Asadova was born on May 16, 1956, in Baku. She graduated from Baku State University (formerly Azerbaijan State University). She defended her PhD dissertation in Plant Physiology and has been successfully engaged in scientific research in the fields of plant physiology and biotechnology for many years. She is the author of more than 70 scientific publications. Among the scientist’s major achievements are the study of hormonal regulation of morphogenetic processes in alfalfa plants, the development of a local alfalfa strain with high regeneration potential, the identification of the differential effects of auxins on plant tissues, and investigations into the role of various osmotic components in callus embryogenesis and morphogenesis processes. Sadagat Asadova has also studied the role of photosynthesis in energy supply and respiration under stress conditions, the effect of carbon dioxide reassimilation on the activation of photosynthesis in a closed in vitro system, the formation of the electron transport chain in embryo chloroplasts, and adaptive changes under salt stress. Together with her laboratory colleagues, the scientist participated in developing methods for the accelerated propagation of saffron (Crocus L.), investigated the morphogenetic capacity of promising barley varieties, and obtained aseptic seedlings of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni, as well as created a collection consisting of Russian and Turkish varieties.
Sadagat khanym has earned the deep respect and appreciation of her colleagues through her kindness, caring attitude, and constant support for young researchers. The staff of the Institute of Molecular Biology sincerely congratulates Sadagat khanym on her 70th jubilee and wishes her strong health, long life, and new scientific achievements.
