Acting Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Academician Irada Huseynova, gave an interview to Crossmedia.az. The scientist spoke about the development prospects of molecular biology and biotechnology in Azerbaijan. The interview addressed the reforms being implemented at the Institute of Molecular Biology, international cooperation, and the establishment of modern laboratories. Irada Huseynova emphasized that one of the priority areas is the training of young scientists and the expansion of their opportunities for education and internships at foreign research centers. The academician noted that the application of biotechnologies in agriculture and healthcare is of strategic importance. She stated that Azerbaijan has the potential to become one of the region’s leading scientific centers in the fields of molecular biology and genomics, and particularly stressed the importance of the practical application of scientific results, innovation, and technology transfer.
