On May 18, Vice-President of ANAS, Acting Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Academician Irada Huseynova participated in a number of international events, exhibitions, and national stands organized within the framework of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, and met with representatives of various countries.

Within the framework of WUF13, organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and dedicated to the theme “Human Settlements: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities,” Academician Irada Huseynova participated in special sessions entitled “Climate and Habitat Nexus,” “From Waste Management to a Circular Economy,” “Pulse of Healthy Living Spaces,” and others. She became closely acquainted with platforms where modern challenges related to sustainable urbanization, climate change, protection of urban ecosystems, biodiversity, green energy, environmental safety, and human health were discussed.

During the Forum sessions, participants discussed the impact of climate change on urban infrastructure and the environment, as well as green transition strategies, reduction of carbon emissions, sustainable urban planning, urban biodiversity, and innovative ecological solutions.

Within the framework of the Forum, Academician Irada Huseynova also visited national pavilions and stands of various countries in the Urban Expo exhibition area. During these meetings, views were exchanged with representatives of different countries, scientific institutions, international organizations, and innovation centers, and possible directions for scientific cooperation were discussed.

In addition to Academician Irada Huseynova, employees of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS and the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan also participated in the events.
