MBI researchers’ co-authored article published in a Q1 journal Jun 18, 2026 | 08:44 / Publications

An article co-authored by staff members of the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been published in a prestigious Q1-ranked journal. The publication, titled “Integrated Assessment of Physiological, Molecular and Ultrastructural Responses to Heat Stress in Wheat,” was co-authored by research staff member of the Institute of Molecular Biology Saida Zulfugarova, PhD holders in biology Samira Rustamova and Aynura Pashayeva, Academician Irada Huseynova, as well as collaborators from Azerbaijan Medical University. The article has been published in the internationally recognized journal Plants, one of the leading scientific journals in the field of plant sciences. According to the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) classification, Plants is indexed in the Q1 quartile, with an impact factor of 4.7. The study highlights that heat stress significantly affects wheat productivity. However, the key mechanisms underlying thermotolerance are still not fully understood. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms involved in heat stress tolerance and provides a scientific basis for the future development of wheat varieties more resilient to climate change.
