On June 30, the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a commemorative event dedicated to the 98th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished scientist, public figure, and academician Jalal Aliyev.

The event took place in the late academician's office and was attended by Acting Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology, Academician Irada Huseynova, heads of the Institute's laboratories and sectors, and the scientist's former students. Addressing the participants, Academician Irada Huseynova noted that the Institute traditionally organizes various events each year to mark the birthday of the world-renowned scientist Jalal Aliyev. She emphasized that holding the commemorative gathering in his office is a profound expression of respect for his memory. She also informed the audience that the Institute's staff had visited Academician Jalal Aliyev's grave at the Alley of Honor and that the Institute had organized both a memorial event dedicated to his legacy and a scientific seminar featuring the discussion of a doctoral dissertation in his memory. In her speech, Irada Huseynova gave a comprehensive overview of Academician Jalal Aliyev's life and outstanding scientific achievements. She also highlighted his exceptional personal qualities, noting that he served as an enduring role model for his students. She stressed that Academician Jalal Aliyev, who devoted more than 60 years of his life to science, will always be remembered with profound gratitude by his students and by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Afterwards, Irada Huseynova shared detailed information with the Institute's staff about her recent visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. She noted that, within the framework of the visit, the delegation had participated in a number of important events and visited the Nakhchivan Branch of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Nakhchivan State University, and the Ashabi-Kahf Religious and Cultural Monument Complex. She also highlighted their participation in the 3rd "Return to Western Azerbaijan" Festival held in the city of Ordubad. Academician Huseynova informed the participants that a Memorandum of Cooperation had been signed between the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan State University. She emphasized that this partnership would make a significant contribution to the advancement of science and education at both institutions. She also presented to the participants commemorative gifts received from Nakhchivan State University, including an artistic representation of the Momine Khatun Mausoleum and unique salt-crafted artworks engraved with the names and logos of both the Institute of Molecular Biology and Nakhchivan State University. Irada Huseynova also spoke about the 3rd "Return to Western Azerbaijan" Festival-Congress, held in Ordubad and jointly organized by the Authorized Representative Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan State University, and the Western Azerbaijan Community. She noted that researchers from the Institute of Molecular Biology had also taken part in these prestigious events.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Academician Irada Huseynova congratulated Mahira Mammadova, Head of the Biotechnology and Bioengineering Laboratory of the Institute, Associate Professor and PhD in Biology, on the occasion of her 65th anniversary. Wishing her continued success in her scientific and creative endeavors, she presented her with the Institute's Certificate of Honor. Academician Huseynova also congratulated Gulnar Abdullayeva, a researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology who is currently serving as a postdoctoral researcher with the Oxford Vaccine Group in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Oxford, on her birthday, and wished her continued success and new achievements in her future scientific career.
