An article by researchers at the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan entitled “Integrated Assessment of Morphophysiological and Biochemical Traits for Identifying Drought-Tolerant Bread Wheat Genotypes Under Rainfed Conditions”, co-authored by PhDs in Biology Ulduz Gurbanova, Durna Aliyeva and Turana Isgandarova; Doctor of Biological Sciences Atabay Jahangirov; Researcher Saida Zulfuqarova; and Academician Irada Huseynova, has been published in the prestigious journal Agronomy. One of the internationally recognized scientific publications in the field of plant sciences, Agronomy is ranked in the Q1 quartile according to the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) classification. The journal has an impact factor of 4.1. The article presents a comprehensive assessment of the drought tolerance of six winter bread wheat cultivars and 15 promising breeding lines grown under rainfed conditions. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of the biochemical and physiological mechanisms involved in drought stress tolerance and provides a scientific basis for the future development of wheat cultivars with enhanced resilience to climate change.
