An article entitled “Breeding-Based Screening of Winter Wheat Genotypes for Drought Tolerance and Antioxidant Activity,” co-authored by PhD in Biology Durna Aliyeva, PhD in Biology Ulduza Gurbanova, Doctor of Biological Sciences Atabey Jahangirov, and Academician Irada Huseynova, researchers at the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has been published in the prestigious “SABRAO Journal of Breeding and Genetics.” The journal is an international scientific publication that features research in the fields of plant breeding, genetics, genetic resources, and the development of new varieties. It is ranked in the Q2 quartile according to the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) classification and has an impact factor of 1.7. The study evaluated the drought tolerance of winter wheat cultivars and promising breeding lines grown under rainfed conditions at different stages of ontogeny based on morphophysiological parameters and antioxidant activity. Cultivars demonstrating high performance across the studied parameters were identified as promising breeding materials. The findings provide a scientific basis for breeding programs aimed at developing new wheat varieties with enhanced resilience to climate change, high adaptability to drought conditions, and strong yield potential.
