On September 7, Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW 2026) began in the capital of Azerbaijan. The event is dedicated to promoting solutions to global climate challenges and strengthening international cooperation in this area. This year, for the first time, Baku Climate Action Week, held with the principal partnership of SOCAR Green, is being organized in parallel with the UNFCCC Climate Week.
The opening ceremony is attended by officials responsible for the climate agenda of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, the leadership of COP30 and COP31, representatives of international organizations, as well as High-Level Climate Champions.
Employees of the Institute of Molecular Biology also participated in this important event under the leadership of Academician Irada Huseynova, Vice-President of ANAS and Acting Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology. The Institute's employees will participate in various sessions as part of the events taking place from September 7 to 11.
It should be noted that Baku Climate Action Week, now being held for the third time, brings together representatives of government and the private sector, investors, international organizations, academia, civil society, youth, cities, and other stakeholders. The event serves to promote concrete climate solutions, establish new partnerships, and expand investment opportunities.
Baku Climate Action Week is held on an increasingly larger scale and with a richer program each year. BCAW 2026 focuses on bringing together a broader range of sectors and stakeholder groups and on linking the priorities of the climate agenda with concrete opportunities for action, partnership, and investment. This year's program includes 15 major roundtables and numerous partner events. Some of the roundtables are organized in cooperation with the 4th UNFCCC Climate Week – Implementation Forum.
Baku Climate Action Week is designed as an international platform for discussions on combating climate change, the energy transition, renewable energy, sustainable development, and accelerating climate action.
