Associate Professor Dr. Lu Chunfang of the Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences visited the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During her visit, Dr. Lu Chunfang familiarized herself with the Institute’s facilities and infrastructure, laboratories, and ongoing research activities. Dr. Lu Chunfang also attended a scientific seminar held at the Institute. At the seminar, she delivered a presentation entitled “Modernization and Internationalization: The Development Path of Traditional Chinese Medicine” and answered questions from the participants. It should be noted that Lu Chunfang conducts research on medicinal plant resources and their sustainable use. Her scientific activities include plant identification, assessment of the characteristic plant resources of Xinjiang, and the comprehensive study and utilization of local natural products. Dr. Lu has participated in scientific projects aimed at identifying biologically active compounds from plants characteristic of Xinjiang’s unique flora, as well as developing new ethnic medicinal products based on locally produced traditional Chinese medicine raw materials. Her research interests also include the establishment and development of specialized databases on medicinal plant resources in arid regions. As part of her visit, Dr. Lu Chunfang met with Academician Irada Huseynova, Acting Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology. During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on the study of plant resources, the assessment of their biological activity, the investigation of potential applications of natural products, and prospects for joint scientific cooperation.
