Today, Azerbaijan celebrates State Sovereignty Day. On September 19, 2024, President Ilham Aliyev signed an Order establishing State Sovereignty Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On September 19, 2023, an anti-terrorist operation was launched to prevent large-scale provocations committed in Azerbaijan’s Garabagh economic region, disarm and withdraw the remnants of the Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijani territories, and restore the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan in those areas. As a result of the operation, which lasted only 23 hours and concluded on September 20, the valiant Azerbaijani Army professionally accomplished all the tasks assigned to it. Thus, this victory led to the full restoration of the sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan. September 20, 2023, is regarded as a historic day in terms of the full restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
