An article authored by researchers of the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been published in the Q1-quartile scientific journal “Applied Biosynthesis”, which has an impact factor of 4.3.

The study, entitled “Genome-wide association analysis reveals new loci for leaf water status, biomass and plant architectural traits in bread wheat under rainfed conditions”, investigated 187 bread wheat genotypes grown under rainfed conditions in Azerbaijan. Genome-wide association analysis was used to study the genetic basis of drought-related physiological and morphological traits, and potential genetic loci associated with relative leaf water content, plant height, and biomass were identified.

The findings are of scientific significance for breeding programs aimed at developing drought-tolerant wheat varieties.
