Turana Isgandarova, Senior Researcher at the Bioadaptation Laboratory of the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, PhD in Biology participated in an international scientific seminar held in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt, within the framework of the SUSTAIN CA22144 COST Action.

Held on 29–30 September 2026 through a collaboration between Egypt’s National Research Centre and ADGA Agriculture, the seminar focused on “Solutions for Soil and Water Restoration in Salinity-Affected Agroecosystems in Arid Regions.”

At the event, T. Isgandarova delivered a scientific presentation entitled “Molecular Responses of Wheat to Drought and Salinity: Stress Adaptation and Irreversible Damage.” The presentation addressed the molecular responses of wheat to abiotic stress factors such as drought and salinity, mechanisms of stress adaptation, and scientific approaches to understanding irreversible damage caused by stress.

As part of the seminar, a field visit was organized on 30 September. The participants visited the El Madaway, Eva, Dina, GM and El Hegaz, and El Shafi farms located along the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road. During the field visit, the participants familiarized themselves with practices applied in the management of soil salinity, efficient irrigation, soil moisture conservation, soil reclamation, and sustainable agricultural production under arid conditions.
