On February 19, the first meeting of the territorial party organization of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) was held in ANAS.

The conference was attended by the president of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, chairman of the Yasamal district organization of the NAP Taghi Ahmadov, first vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli, vice-president of ANAS, academician Rasim Alguliyev and chairmen of territorial organizations for scientific institutions.

Opening the event, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev said that the purpose of the conference is the election of members, chairman and deputies of the Board of the territorial organization of ANAS NAP.

Ramiz Mehdiyev said that the party, the foundation of which was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev, plays an indispensable role in the formation and strengthening of our independent state and in the socio-economic development of our country. The scientist noted that almost all scientific institutions of ANAS have territorial party organizations of the NAP, which indicates the support of the collective of the Academy the politics of President Ilham Aliyev.

Speaking further the chairman of the Yasamal district organization of the NAP, Taghi Ahmadov thanked the ANAS leadership for organizing the conference. The speaker noted that one of the leading parties in the NAP country was created in 1992 with the participation of national leader Heydar Aliyev and well-known intellectuals.

Taghi Ahmadov noted that today eight hundred thousand people have joined the party, which at the time of its founding had only five hundred members. He noted that only a few years ago, only six percent of ANAS employees were members of the NAP. Currently, their number is 21 percent. He noted that today the NAP is also represented in the regional branches of ANAS.

Speaking about the upcoming work, Taghi Ahmadov expressed hope for further expansion of relations with ANAS, an increase in the number of members from the Academy and wished them success in their activities.

Speaking at the event, academician Isa Habibbayli said that the creation of territorial party organizations of the NAP in ANAS began in 2013. He noted that at that time a small part of the Academy staff were party members. In recent years, significant work has been done in ANAS to improve this indicator, and territorial organizations have been created in a number of scientific institutions.

Noting that after the election of academician Ramiz Mehdiyev as President of ANAS, work in this direction has accelerated, the first- vice president said that territorial organizations function in all scientific institutions. The scientist reported that a territorial organization of the Presidium of ANAS was created a month ago, and as soon as possible dozens of employees submitted applications for joining the party.

He emphasized the importance of holding the first conference of the territorial organization of the NAP in ANAS and expressed confidence that this would contribute to the rallying of the Academy staff, more diligent activities in the name of statehood and Azerbaijanism.

During the event, the chairmen of the territorial organizations for scientific institutions of ANAS spoke about the importance of the conference.

Then, by voting, 15 members of the Board of the territorial organization of ANAS NAP were elected. PhD in Biology Ulduza Gurbanova was appointed by the majority of the chairman of the organization, PhD in Physics Famin Salmanov, PhD in History Ilgar NiftaliYev and PhD in Biology Samira Bagirova - Vice-Chairmen.
