Ayten Agayeva, a senior researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, gave an interview to the ATV channel “ATV Qərargah”.

Having connected via video link to the program devoted to methods of combating coronavirus, A. Agayeva spoke about the activities that are being carried out in the world to create vaccines against COVID-19.

A. Agayeva, who took part in the development of new drugs at the International Center for Molecular Biotechnology of the United States two years ago, said that under normal conditions, the process of creating vaccines that are safe for human cells is long, it takes many years, this process consists of four stages. According to her, these stages are: primary research and screening; preclinical studies during which vaccines are tested on various animal models; human clinical trials (three phases); stage of confirmation of the effectiveness of the vaccine and its release on sale.

A. Agayeva added that, given the widespread of coronavirus in the world, leading organizations in the world claim that a vaccine against this virus will go on sale at the end of this or the beginning of next year.
