Seminar on the theme “Redox regulation of photosynthetic enzymes” was held + Photo May 08, 2018 | 14:28 / Seminars

On 8 May 2018 a regular seminar was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies. Junior researcher of the laboratory of Enzymology of photosynthetic carbon assimilation Mustafayeva Ulviyye gave a presentation on “Redox regulation of photosynthetic enzymes”. She spoke on the redox regulation, which is one of the main signaling mechanisms of living organisms. Because of this mechanism redox modification of biological molecules stops. Redox state plays an active role in the enzymatic activity, DNA synthesis, gene expression, etc. Rodox reactions stipulate thermodynamics of energetic flows in the living cell. On the other hand, the changes in the redox state of various molecules occur due to the effects of stress factors and activities of the enzymes involved in the regulation processes in the cell.

Then the head of the laboratory, doctor of biological sciences, associate professor Shahniyar Bayramov spoke on the research he conducted during his scientific trip in the Wageningen city of The Netherlands. Sh. Bayramov won the Invited Scientific Grants Competition of The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research with the project entitled “The study of the effects of temperature, light intensity and spectrum on the biochemistry of CAM photosynthesis in the Phalaenopsis varieties”. The scientist conducted his research on biochemical bases of CAM photosynthesis at the Wageningen University and Research Center. The speech of the scientist aroused great interest of the audience and an extensive discussion was held on the topic.
