Scientific-practical seminar on "Agrarian Reforms in  the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" was held at the main building of ANAS.

The event, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), was organized jointly by the Institute of Caucasian Studies, Soil Science and Agrochemistry of ANAS and the House of Scientists.

For the first time in 1918 Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was established in the Muslim East. Despite great political and military pressure, the independence of Azerbaijan was proclaimed. Head of the Scientists' House, PhD in history Nurida Guliyeva noted that modern independent Azerbaijan Republic is the heir of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Then,  director of the Institute of Genetic Resources, correspondent member of ANAS Zeynal Akperov said that Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is a glorious page of our people's history. Speaking about similar and different aspects of the ADR and modern Azerbaijan, the scientist briefed on the work carried out on the development of the agrarian sector in our independent republic, the legal successor of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, as well as the challenges ahead.

Then, director of the Institute of Caucasian Studies, correspondent member of ANAS Musa Gasymly presented the report on "The first Republic of the Muslim East".

Agrarian Policy Adviser of ANAS, academic Garib Mammadov's "Agrarian Policy of Heydar Aliyev" and employee of the Institute of Economy, Doctor of Economy Seyfaddin Samandarov’s "Agrarian Reforms in the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" reports were listened and discussed at the event.

Declaration of the independence of Azerbaijan in Tbilisi on May 28, 1918, the composition of ADR government, the transfer of the government from Tbilisi to Ganja, then to Baku and other issues discussed . It was particularly noted the work carried out in the direction of agrarian reform, transfer of lands to peasants, creating equal conditions for all forms of property, fiscal policy, issuing national currency, creation of state bank, formation of state budget, reconstruction of scattered infrastructure, industrial development, foreign trade relations. .

Academic Garib Mammadov, agrarian advisor of ANAS, made a report on the topic of "Heydar Aliyev's agrarian policy" at the seminar and noted that the development of agriculture in Azerbaijan, reforms in the agrarian sector, in particular, the implementation of land reforms, the successes achieved in this direction are related to the historical services of the wise head of state and genius political figure Heydar Aliyev.

Other speakers on the subject mentioned the necessity of learning the ADR period to be further studied and forwarded to future generations.
