On October 7-9, 2020 the research fellow of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, Ph.D. in Biology, Associate professor Samira Rustamova participated in the international seminar of the  International Consortium Borlaug Global Rust Initiative (BGRI) held on an online platform. BGRI was founded in 2005 by Nobel Laureate Norman Borlaug, considered the "father of the green revolution", in partnership with ICAR, ICARDA, CIMMYT, UN-FAO, and Cornell University. The main goal of the consortium is to carry out continuous international cooperation in the control of wheat rust and disease control to ensure food security around the world. Within the framework of the seminar, reports reflecting the results of the most modern research on wheat rust diseases were listened to, and extensive discussions were held. Genotyping results of body rust samples collected from different regions of Azerbaijan in 2014-2019 were presented in the International Consortium. It should be noted that these studies were conducted in collaboration with Dr. Les Szabo of the US Department of Agriculture's Plant Diseases Laboratory.
